Bosses, Dress codes, Relationships & Some Time Left To Work
Overheard on its way to the New York Times following
employee scandals:
Dear
Executive:
For 30 years businesses have tried to hire
people who met irrelevant criteria and were only somewhat qualified to perform job tasks.
30 years of on-the-job training of
under-qualified people hired for irrelevant reasons has failed. Affirmative action
mandates have discredited the affirmative action policy and eroded the nation's ability to
perform to standards and compete globally.
The lessons are clear and should be learned
and to put in perspective. Business in America can be fair to itself, its customers, and
to minorities by hiring based upon the specific individual's ability to effectively
perform on the job.
This practical equal opportunity hiring
policy should apply to top editors, reporters and bathroom attendants.
