Learn From The Past To Allow For Progress Today
1.  Some big mistakes made in this century include: Underestimating Hitler's potential in 1936
Underestimating the effects of the Asian financial crisis in 2000
Overestimating the value of stocks in 1929

2.  Some big mistakes that may be made in the near future include:

 Overestimating the value of stocks in 2000
Assuming the Euro will not overtake the dollar as the world's reserve currency
Assuming I can drive through that red stoplight safely without causing an accident
Assuming there will be no recession in the USA in 2001
Certain I will not be laid-off
A society without solid moral grounding can survive and flourish.
None that I can think of.
