Pollution & The Kyoto Protocol Survey

What?  For What?
1.  I believe all people and earth are seriously threatened by the following:
Chemical pollution
Biological pollution
Nuclear pollution
Carbon dioxide (CO2) pollution
Human waste
Garbage
Global warming
Other:

2.  My understanding of the Kyoto Protocol is:
I have no idea what it is
I have heard the term only
I have heard of it but have very little understanding of what it means
I have heard of it and have a superficial understanding of what it means
Thorough comprehension

3.  The United States:
Agreed to follow the protocol but not yet made it official by signing it
Has agreed and signed the protocol
Has refused to sign the protocol agreement
Helped initiate the talks that created the protocol
I have no idea
Should not agree to follow the Kyoto Protocol
Should agree to follow the Kyoto Protocol

4.  The United States should: Agree to follow the protocol
Not agree to follow the protocol

5.  December 2, 2003:  The New York Times reported, "A senior Kremlin official declared Tuesday that Russia would not ratify the international treaty requiring cuts in the emissions of gases linked to global warming, delivering what could be a fatal blow to years of diplomatic efforts...."  In October 2004, Russia signed the Kyoto Agreement. Russia did the right thing
Russia should not have signed the treaty

6.  Cato Institute's Senior Fellow Patrick Michaels writes in the "The Consequences of Kyoto," that "The Kyoto agreement -- if fully complied with -- would likely reduce the gross domestic product of the United States by 2.3% each year."

The rules of Kyoto mandate that about 40 industrialized nations cut their emissions by an average of 5.2% below 1990 levels by 2008-12. However, developing countries, including China and India, do not have targets under Kyoto. These countries claim that the rich, industrial states must lead in cutting emissions because they fueled their economies with coal, oil and gas since the Industrial Revolution.
The agreement signed on December 9, 2005, on a Kyoto renewal road map will give members seven years to negotiate and ratify accords by the time the first Kyoto phase ends in 2012.

I don't care if my job might be lost due to industrial cutbacks.
I don't care that lesser-developed nations will be given an unfair economic opportunity to advance & overwhelm the US economy.
Kyoto is a bad treaty for industrialized as well as developing nations because every nation's progress will be inhibited.

7.  Production and accumulation of carbon dioxide, CO2, is a major subject of the Kyoto Protocol. Agree
Disagree

8.  There is a fluorocarbon gas created in heavy industrial processes such as steel making that has 10,000 times the global warming impact than CO2. I did not know that
I knew that
And also, all steel production should cease immediately

9.  Global warming is: A problem that should be addressed & resolved with new technologies over coming years as industrial processes evolve & improve
A problem that should be addressed & resolved immediately at all costs to progress & industrial output should be stopped until it is resolved!
I am so concerned that I drive a little dinkmobile car that has almost no acceleration
I am confused

10.  Global warming is increased when excess CO2 floats to upper atmospheric levels.  It is also caused by: Solar activities such as flares & eruptions
Cows & other farm animals
Many un-CO2 related gaseous by products of industrial processes
All of the above

11.  I wear a Kyoto Protocol T-shirt. Agree & it's anti-Kyoto protocol
Agree & it's pro-Kyoto protocol
Disagree

12.  Implementation of the Kyoto Protocol would inhibit industrial output of the largest industrial nation, the United States, and thereby provide lesser nations with an industrial advantage. Of course
I did not know that

13.  The Kyoto Protocol demands that the more industrialized a nation is, the more it must cut its industrial output.  That would inhibit industrial output of the largest industrialized nations -- Japan, the United States, Germany, etc. -- thereby providing less-industrialized nations with an unfair advantage. Of course
I did not know that

14. I am: Female
Male

15. My age group is: Under 20
20-29
30-39
40-49
50-59
60-69
70 & older
