Judgment Counts
Judgment: "The capacity to distinguish, assess and evaluate situations after deliberation and draw authoritative conclusions based upon sound reasoning;  good sense."
1. It is incredible that in today's world the United States of America can experience an election outcome that swings on a few thousand    votes amidst millions, yet there is no rioting or coup attempt -- that everyone intends to abide by the final count. Agree
Disagree

2. U.S. citizens have a constitutional right to vote.  Exercising that right carries the personal obligation to vote with care and responsibility. Of course
Rights come with responsibilities

3. The election fiasco has caused the United States to lose moral authority in global affairs. Agree
Disagree

4. Point:  It has been theorized that post-election manipulations in the United States verify we are witnessing the end of democracy as it has existed for over 200 years in the U. S.  Finally even the great tradition of true constitutional democracy implemented and practiced so well in the U. S. has deteriorated and now operates at a lower level as we often witness in many other nations' so-called 'peoples' democracies'.

5. Judgement: "The capacity to distinguish, assess and evaluate situations after deliberation
and draw authoritative conclusions based upon sound reasoning;  good sense."
Use the above dictionary definition of 'Judgement' to respond to the following question.  Today we are observing both Gore and Bush after the election and we can see how each is handling the Florida situation.  Based upon how each is dealing with the situation, which of these  men would you want handling the daily affairs of the United States?
Bush
Gore
Kerry

6. Global standards:  The same standards for reading and accepting a ballot to determine that it does or does not contain a valid vote must be applied to all ballots for all voters in a given election.  The universe of voters in the presidential election is all voters in all 50 states.  As an example, counting selective ballots in Florida and applying new standards of acceptance after the election removes all other voters in Florida and the other 49 states from the election for president.  Therefore, the manual recounts in Florida violate the U. S. Constitution's guarantee of equal protection.  That is disenfranchisement. Agree
Disagree

7. The afternoon of November 7, Election Day, Democrat operatives hired a telemarketing firm to telephone voters in select Florida counties to tell voters that there had been reports of many voters being confused by the ballot and being unsure that they voted correctly or even voted at all for the candidate of their choice.  Voters were then instructed to telephone their congressmen to complain about precinct voting operations and their fears that their votes would not be counted correctly.  That telemarketing campaign led to all the manual recounts resulting in Gore gaining hundreds of votes.

What should be done now to prevent future election interference?

Check all appropriate:
Identify who hired the telemarketing firm
Determine the true
purpose of their campaign
Prosecute any wrong doing found and send any guilty to jail
Nothing

8. The U. S. Administration:

George W. Bush has been working for several years with many of the people (including minorities & women) that he is selecting for top positions.  He is not suddenly going on a quest for minorities and women to select in order to make the government "look like America," to quote Bill Clinton in 1992.

In other words, Bush is proving what many people have always known:  Good people come in all shapes, sizes and colors --- there is no need to lower standards just to serve political correctness by including unqualified minorities and women.  Some of the best and brightest exist in all groups --- it just takes a leader who wants the best because they are the best, not because they satisfy a quota.
