Who is he pointing and laughing at?

Could it be us?

Another one instructing us & praying?

Should we want this?

Mr. & Mrs. Edwards
He was trained, raised and educated in poverty.  He become a personal injury lawyer who made $14 million on those types of cases.  He spent five years in the US Senate.  Now he tells us he is prepared to be president of the United States.

Would you trust him?

Who Should Lead The United States of America?
Who Is Able To Lead...  At Any Time?
1. John Edwards is a trial lawyer who made $14 million dollars by winning liability law suits.  A C-SPAN camera zoomed in on Sen. John Edwards Tuesday night during a dinner marking the 30th anniversary of the Supreme Court's Roe vs. Wade decision -- as he was popping and chewing gum.  The presidential contender attended the event in Washington, DC with fellow democratic hopefuls Kerry, Dean, Gephardt, Leiberman and Sharpton.

The camera zoomed in Edwards casually chewing gum as rivals made their pitch.  "I couldn't believe John Edwards is running for President chewing gum on the stage on CSPAN!" said aTV producer.

At least he wasn't chewing & spitting tobacco
Perhaps he chews & cracks gum when he's thinking intently
Low class acts like chewing & cracking gum in public don't necessarily mean that he is too low class to be president of the United States
He's my kinda guy
So what?  I chew gum at formal gatherings too

2.  Edwards is worth between $12 million and $30 million.  According to his financial disclosure forms, he is a successful personal injury lawyer.  He bought the eight-bedroom, 6,672-square-foot home in the an upper echelon neighborhood for $3.8 million in September, 2002.

In February, the city sent Edwards a tax bill for $9,562.46.  According to tax records it was due by March 31.  As of the end of business July 29, 2003, Edwards still owed $11,092.46 with interest and penalties according to tax collection office records.

Regarding the outstanding bill in Washington, a spokeswoman for the city tax collection office, Mrs. Daisley, said that even in cases where a tax bill is in dispute, the city requires owners to pay by March 31.  "You can protest the bill, but you must still pay your taxes on time, and we'll reimburse you," she said.   "It's the owner's responsibility." That's a lot of money."  Ms. Daisley continued, "There's no reason for not paying your tax bill.  I guess if you're in the hospital or something, but still you have to pay your taxes."

Disagree

I wonder how does a personal injury lawyer get so rich so young?

3.  Edwards has followed a pattern of failing to pay tax bills on time.  There are at least eight situations during the recent decade that Edwards has been late enough paying property taxes on his Raleigh home and various automobiles that bill collectors assessed penalties.  This according to records kept by Wake County in North Carolina.

In 1995, for example, they were more than two months late paying their taxes on a 1989 Mitsubishi and a 1991 Acura.  That same year, he was nearly a month late paying taxes on his Raleigh home.  Last year, he was late paying taxes on a 1998 Volvo and a 1998 Buick.  And that did not include dozens of times he paid months past due on Raleigh tax bills but wasn't assessed late penalties.

It appears that Edwards has more than enough money to pay his taxes.   He just doesn't like to pay his money to government entities.
